Disaster Area Application for Reassessment
This form is to request reassessment of property under Section 13-5 of the Property Tax Code (35 ILCS 200/13-5) based on substantial damage from the storms that took place on July 2-4, 2026 and was declared a major disaster area by Governor Pritzker on August 18, 2026:
“. . . from July 2-4, 2026, there were four separate rounds of severe storms across northern Illinois. Intense rainfall in Kane County caused a culvert at Duffin Drain, a tributary of Welch Creek in the Big Rock Creek Watershed, to fail.”
If your real property was substantially damaged as a result of the storms that that took place on July 2-4, 2026, you may file a Disaster Area Application for Reassessment. Once the application is filed it will be reviewed by local assessment officials. An inspection of your entire property may be required in order to provide for accurate valuations both before and after the damage from the July 2-4 storms.
